Don't expect to receive 3 dvds as shown: you will not receive that only 1 disk (double sided, etc.). Bravo amazon for your lack of transparency!!! This film should be part of the dvd library of many enthusiasts, and for good reason : content as containing make a DVD of exception. First of all, let's talk about technique : no sound effects, deafening, explosions in 3 dimensions, but a presence that is incredible throughout the film. This comes from the sound (though not very refined at the time), but also the quality of the image, sumptuous, with this single grain, this detail that no hollywood production contemporary can offer. And these plans, wonderful efficiency, which tell the story best than any voice could have done. Note : the soundtrack has been very well restored, which is particularly visible on the VO, and that this long version provides passages never before translated into English at the time. And then, of course, there is the content : this enigmatic man, this war mystique, this people, wonderful and terrible... In short, a very good DVD, whether they like it or not this enigmatic character, this criticism is a little too much a demagogue on the political world or this second part less exhilarating than the first.. THE QUALITY Of the IMAGES IS VERY GOOD EVEN IF NOT EVERYTHING IS PERFECT : there is STILL a lot OF BLUR ON THE FACES in PARTICULAR. IT BECOMES JUSTIFIABLY DIFFICULT WHEN ONE SEES THE QUALITY OF "BEN HUR", "THE AFRICAN QUEEN", "THE 10 COMMANDMENTS"(US) OR "CASABLANCA"(US). THAT SAID, THE DVD IS BACK IN SPADES AND CONTRASTS........ EXCEPT THAT, THE SUPPLEMENTS ARE, THEM, SUBTITLES IN ENGLISH. BECAUSE, ON THIS BLU-RAY, CONTRARY to WHAT IS NOTED ON THE SITE, NO (I say NO) SUPPLEMENTS IS the SUB-TITLE IN FRENCH!!!! ; WHICH IS A shame BECAUSE THERE are ENGLISH, ITALIAN, GERMAN, SPANISH...... The characters in the film seem to belong to the convention westernienne : the brave sheriff (John Wayne), his deputy, sympathetic but sadly an alcoholic (Dean Martin), the old professional philosopher and cabochard, the woman of bad life with a big heart, the young cowboy energetic private to his boss and a bully local served up by a band of adventurers, assassins.
